Washington State Homeschool Requirements (2025)
๐ Annual Declaration of Intent
- File a signed Declaration of Intent with your local school district superintendent by September 15 each year
- Must include the name and age of each child being homeschooled
๐ฉโ๐ซ Parent Qualification (Choose One)
- Have 45 college-level quarter credits (or equivalent semester credits)
- Complete a Washington State-approved parent qualifying course in home-based instruction
- Be supervised by a person who is certificated under Washington law
- Be deemed qualified by the local superintendent

- Minimum 1,000 hours of instruction per year
- At least 2,000 hours in the home, library, or other approved location
