North Carolina Homeschool Requirements (2025)
๐ Notice to DNPE
- File a notice with the NC Division of Non-Public Education (DNPE) before starting
- Teaching parent or legal guardian must have a high school diploma or GED
- Once established, no annual renewal notice is required โ just maintain records

- English Grammar, Reading, Spelling, and Composition
- Mathematics
- Social Studies
- Science
- Health and Physical Education

Attendance
- Minimum 9 calendar months per year
- Attendance records must be maintained and available for inspection
๐ Annual Standardized Testing
- A nationally standardized achievement test must be administered annually
- Test results must be kept on file
- Test must be administered by a qualified person
- Results do not need to be submitted to DNPE โ just kept on file
